According to the Bible ,Judith a faithful and beautiful Israelite widow device a plan to liberate her people from the invading forces Assyrian General Holofernes.Judith armed with her charm, invited Holofernes to a banquet, she took her chance when Holofernes was heavily drunk ,Judith calmly beheaded him and secured his head in a sack and went away scratch free.
Artemisia uses much light, delicately handling her subject. She highlighted the glorious moments of Judith so tensely ,evident on the flickering light of a candle. Her right hand still holding control of the weapon. While the other in a silent gesture. Artemisia heightened the looming danger and she successfully unfolded to us the gruesome deed in the deep dark shadows of night

THE DEATH OF ACTEONTITIAN

The story was taken from Ovid, tells us that Acteon was out hunting, unknowingly he chance upon Diana bathing .she became furious and as a revenge, using her superhuman power transformed Acteon into a Stag.
The grave monochrome, the un-easy brush strokes ranging from thin washes to thick impasto, the palette was limited to only two colors,brownish-green and dark red.Diana remained majestically on the left.Titian painted her out huge than life to emphasize her power. The stormy sky, reveals her mood, the imposing fear and smoking anger seems to be magnified with every fluttering brush strokes. Acteon on the other hand, we can see his form vanishing and transforming his hound snarling at him. The landscape somewhat hazy depriving botanical emphasis. Titian manipulated his brush, even using his fingers to create clusters that will articulate the mood of the figures and to establish relationship among his subjects, and finally merging them in unity of colors and surface texture.

Colours, reddish brown, appears in the areas of the shadows, particularly in Samson’s back. Flesh tones were thinly applied on top area, defining the shadowed portion. Delilah’s flesh was emphasized by the colour pink. Reubens mixed up lead white tinted with vermillion, with the highlights a mixture of yellow ochre and lead white. Warm red brown glazes enhanced deeper effects of shadows in Delilah’s breasts and Samson’s upper arm . The draperies was done in a broad and direct approach.
The painting revealed Delilah’s betrayal of Samson, having told her that his supernatural strength lies in his hair. Delilah seduced him and had his hair removed, while he is in a slumber.Reubens approach was erotic evident on the bulging breasts of Delilah, the blending of colours exudes a very dramatic and deceptive atmosphere.
